Free Night for Climate 2026: How to Find the Right DAV Hut for Your Voucher
Two free hut nights for DAV members, more than 70 participating huts, and climate-friendly travel by train or bus. Here is how to get the most out of the campaign and quickly find available mattress-dorm beds.

Who can participate and what are the conditions?
All members of the German Alpine Club (DAV) can take part. To redeem the voucher, these requirements apply:
- At least 90% of the route from your home to the hut must be completed by public transport (train, long-distance bus, local bus, including the Deutschlandticket).
- Alternatively, full arrival by bicycle is allowed. In this case, you need a selfie as proof of bike arrival.
- You need a reservation in the mattress dorm of a participating hut. Important: The voucher does not replace a reservation.
- At the hut, show your voucher (digital or printed), public transport ticket, and DAV member card.
The challenge: finding the right hut with available beds
With more than 70 participating huts, manual research quickly becomes time-consuming. You need to check whether a hut is reachable by public transport, still has free mattress-dorm capacity in your preferred month, and matches your planned tour.
Doing this one hut at a time means jumping between many hut websites and repeated checks in the reservation system.
The solution: one click in Hut Finder
Hut Finder is a central search for Alpine Club huts in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, including live availability and practical filters.
For this campaign, open the live hut search and apply the "Freie Nacht fürs Klima" filter to see participating huts with current availability at a glance.
This saves time and helps you focus on planning the route instead of manually checking dozens of huts.
